YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
God gave Marg Pollon a vision and deep desire to provide opportunities for the local church to reconnect with the community. Due to this vision and her love and passion for serving the Lord, Bridges of Love Ministry was birthed. The Ministry became a Religious Society in 2004 and gained Canadian Charitable Statue in 2007. The connecting bridge has varied over the years but the core message has remained contant. Christians must reflect God's character in order to be a visible witness to the watching world. The Great Commanment, to love God and our neighbour, is essential to demonstrate tangible proof of God's existence. Living Proof of a Loving Saviour became our mission.
As with any great bridge, the structure can take many forms. Emergency Preparedness became our connecting 'bridge' nine years ago, when Dr. Tim Foggin invited us to help mobilize Canadian Churches to be prepared with an effective response should a influenza pandemic become a reality. He knew the writing was on the wall and the world was indeed over-due for such a catastrophic event.
Why does Bridges of Love exist? To provide opportunities for the local church to be a catalyst for change and engines of influence, reaching out with a greater concern for, and an irresistible influece on those in their community.
What is Bridges of Love's purpose? To unleash followers of Christ to be a guiding light in their community making a greater impact for God's Kingdom, reflecting His LOVE.
What is Bridges of Love's structure? A Registered Canadian Charitable Organization
What is Bridges of Love's strategy? To reconnect the Church with the Community providing
opportunities and inspiration through the Faith Emergency Preparedness Initiative and Community Emergency Response Team training.
BRIDGES OF LOVE MINISTRY, BOARD OF DIRECTORS - John 13
Marg became a follower of Christ through the outreach efforts of a Scarborough Church. She has worked in the medical field as a Laboratory Technologist, owned and operated a Bed & Breakfast, served as a church administrator, and worked for a compassionate agency. Her involvement in each of these endeavours prepared her for this God ordained quest, building Bridges of Love. She was involved in many volunteer activities while living in Calgary and is now serving in High River, AB.
Marg received the Chamber of Volunteer Organizations, Innovative Award (2012), Queen Elizabeth 11 Diamond Jubillee Medal (2012) and the Prime Minister's Volunteer Social Innovator Award for the Prairies (2014), and most recently (2018) Public Safety Canada's Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award.
Marg and her husband, Tom have three grown children and are very proud grandparents of Hannah, Jaxson, Aliyah, & Toby.
Tom Pollon 's career began in the broadcasting field working with SAIT, CTV, Ryerson, Canadian Cablesystems Engineering, Sony, and Precision Sound. After retiring from full-time employement he spent 4 years as part of the Communication's Department Telephone Team with Samaritan's Purse.
Tom has developed Bridges of Love's two websites along with videos. His heart and passion lies in serving the Lord through the vision and work of Bridges of Love Ministry and appreciates the opportunity to work alongside his wife of over 50 years!
I am pleased to come on the Board of the Bridges of Love Ministry. I have followed Marg's passionate path for many years, and have always been greatly impressed by her perseverance to continue on the path God has called her to.
My husband and I have lived in High River for fifteen years, after moving from Calgary. I have two grown children of which I am very proud, both of whom who have two children each. I have one great grandchild who lives in Halifax.
I have been the bookkeeper for our church since 2008, and I have been the Prayer Coordinator for 17 years. As such, I feel a calling to support this wonderful Ministry in prayer. I believe that prayer is the backbone to any ministry, and this is no exception.
Tom and Marg, I look forward to working with you.
